This stamp can mean many different things to many different people. :I
What I mean is: the common image depicted now in stories about wolves/wolf characters (notably DA woofs) is packs tortured or hunted by teh evul humans, making wolves look innocent and harmless. And another theme making them almighty and powerful.
I like it when wolves are scary, and personally like seeing them as antagonists. They can fit the part pretty well.
